Caffeine and the Positive Effects on Women and Strokes
If you enjoy your daily coffee, surprisingly there may be a benefit or two that come with it. It seems that besides the obvious energy benefits we get from the caffeine in your coffee, there are also others as well. Recently there have been reports of people benefiting from caffeine intake of three to five cups of coffee per day showed a reduction of type 2 diabetes, liver disease, gout, cancer, Parkinson's disease, and a reduced risk of Alzheimer's disease. Caffeine taken daily through coffee or powder, can even improve a person's memory retention and increase attention span as well. With coffee, there is a risk of cholesterol though, this is in part due to the negative effects of two chemicals that are a natural part of the coffee bean, know as cafestol and kahweol. These two chemicals have been shown to increase cholesterol in the blood, which can cause a higher risk of heart disease. This is why there is a benefit to using caffeine powder, because it not only takes out health risk, but you can add the powder to any type of food or beverage, and still get the energy that you need.

There has been another benefit of caffeine to your health. Recent studies have shown a reduction of strokes in middle-aged women and older. This study was done by Swedish researchers that countered the belief of coffee consumption had a negative health effect. On the contrary, it was proven that the women who drank one or more cups of coffee a day were less likely to have a stroke compared to those who did not.

The study was done on 35,000 women from the ages of 49 to 83 years old. The study was concluded 10 years later, and they found that those who drank coffee daily ended up with a 25 percent lower risk of stroke than those who didn't drink coffee.

It was surmised that the effect on strokes may have something to do with the reduction of inflammation and also in the way coffee and caffeine increases responsiveness to insulin which together can lower the risk of stroke. The results are still being investigated.

Even though there can be benefits to coffee and caffeine, moderation is still the key to drinking this beverage. The addictive aspects of coffee and the negative effects of the coffee bean can lead to serious health problems. If used properly, and moderately, the positive health benefits are there.
